Labtain is a Precise Device company. The founders started Precise Device in 2015 to serve lab startups and research groups that needed quality used and refurbished instruments without paying new-equipment prices.
Since then, thousands of instruments obtained, repaired, and tested by our team have gone on to support laboratories across the United States and internationally. Those organizations have saved up to 70% against the cost of buying new.
We work on a simple premise: there is a new home for almost every piece of quality used equipment, and finding it is a better outcome than sending it to landfill.
What we sell
Our inventory covers the full range of laboratory instrumentation — analytical systems, molecular biology equipment, centrifuges and rotors, incubators, refrigeration, liquid handling, microscopy, balances, and general benchtop equipment. Every listing names the manufacturer and model number, and states the condition of the specific unit you are buying.
The equipment we handle is most often used in biochemistry, clinical trial testing, cytopathology, disease and pathology research, DNA and genetic testing, forensic pathology, genomics, histology, immunology, medical genetics, medical microbiology, molecular genetics, molecular testing, and pathology.

Labs are good at acquiring instruments and rarely plan for what happens when those instruments are replaced. That is the gap we fill.
We purchase used laboratory equipment at fair market value and handle the logistics of removal — including packing, crating, and freight at our cost. You do not pay to have equipment taken out.
- Outright purchase. Whether it is one instrument or a full inventory, we quote a market value price for an outright purchase. This is the route that returns the most on your equipment.
- Liquidation. Closing a lab or consolidating a site? We can guide you through liquidating all assets, including a full-service closeout sale when speed matters more than maximum return.
What labs tell us matters most: quotes come back quickly, payment is prompt, and pickups happen when we said they would.

We operate from a facility in Vancouver, Washington, in the Portland metro area, and ship nationwide and internationally. Labs across the Pacific Northwest can also work with us on site for decommissioning and relocation.
